Community Outreach
We believe in shaping students who are not only dedicated to academic excellence but also to making a positive difference in their community and beyond. As part of our ethos of Dedication, we encourage our students to think globally and act locally, cultivating a sense of responsibility and a desire to give back.
Our Community Outreach Programme, launched last year for Year 12 students, reflects this vision. This voluntary initiative gives students the opportunity to step outside the classroom and actively engage in projects that strengthen community ties. It offers them the chance to learn about the value of service, to build meaningful relationships, and to see firsthand the positive impact they can have on the lives of others.
Students in Year 12 can choose from a variety of voluntary activities, tailored to their interests and passions. Some of the options include volunteering at Avery Hampstead Court Care Home, where students spend time with elderly residents, supporting MathsMakers, a local tutoring programme for Year 6 students, reading with younger children in local primary schools, or even taking part in our school’s own lunch clubs, offering support to their peers. There are also opportunities for students to assist in GCSE lessons, helping younger students with subjects they find challenging. These are just some of the many ways students can contribute to the community through the programme.
One remarkable success story from last year is a student who volunteered at Avery Hampstead Court Care Home. Her compassion and dedication to the elderly residents quickly became evident, and the relationships she built during her time there inspired her to take her involvement even further. After learning about the Community Fund Project, she applied for a grant to launch a new initiative aimed at enhancing the residents’ experience at the care home. Out of all the applicants in the local community, she was selected as the winner to fund her project. This incredible achievement is something we are very proud of, and it stands as a shining example of how this programme can inspire students to take initiative and make a lasting impact.
The Community Outreach Programme is more than just volunteering. It’s about developing empathy, leadership, and a sense of social responsibility. Through these experiences, our students learn that giving back is not only rewarding for others but also deeply enriching for themselves. By engaging in meaningful service, they are better prepared for their future, not just as successful students, but as compassionate, thoughtful members of society.
We are extremely proud of the programme, and of all the students who participate. Their efforts to build relationships and give back to the community reflect the values we hold dear at our academy. We look forward to seeing how this programme will continue to grow and benefit both our students and our wider community.
