Leigh Day Debate Competition - Year 12
Year 12 Leigh Day/ Harris Academy Debate Competition
On Wednesday 27th June 11 Human Rights Lawyers arrived at the lecture theatre to see 15 of our Year 12 students participate in 4 debates that had been proposed by the firm.
Most of our students had met their lawyer mentors at the head office 2 months previously and had conducted independent research on political parties, driverless cars. the use of CCTV and the freedom of artistic expression. The students were complemented for their maturity and ability to articulate thoughts, ideas and opinions with such confidence.
Congratulations to Nohaila and Ridhisha for being runners up and superb team members, and the two individual winning debaters were Platin and Nazanin for their outstanding speeches.
Many thanks to Gene Mathews and Alice Ramsay for being such fair adjudicators.
